In a YouTube video released Tuesday, Jan. 17 afternoon, the Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey stated Brian Walshe had been charged with Anas murder after already being held on $500,000 bail for his prior charges of misleading police.

Authorities did not release any information regarding the whereabouts of Ana Walshes body, nor of how they reached the conclusion that she was dead. Officials stated Brian Walshe will be transported to Quincy District Court on Wednesday to be arraigned on the murder warrant.

During Brian Walshes arraignment on Jan. 9 for the charges of misleading a police investigation, prosecutors in court stated Walshe lied to police about his whereabouts during the timeframe of Ana Walshes disappearance. Prosecutors also included evidence of surveillance footage showing Brian Walshe purchasing over $450 worth of cleaning supplies at Home Depot on Jan. 2, and said blood and a bloody knife were found in the basement of the Cohasset home during polices investigation.Read more: Who is Brian Walshe? In polices investigation, it was initially believed Ana Walshe had gone missing during the early morning hours of Jan. 1. Brian Walshe had told police his wife left early for Boston Logan Airport on New Years Day for an emergency at her job in D.C., but police found no record of Ana Walshe ever taking a plane, nor of reaching the airport at all.

In the following days, Cohasset police stated Brian Walshe had reported his wife as missing simultaneously with her employer, but police later clarified during Brians arraignment that he had never made any such report.

News outlets, including WCVB and NBC Boston, reported on Jan. 10 that investigators on Ana Walshes case had been at a trash transfer station in Peabody, where officials were combing through a dump truck of garbage at a time, sorting materials onto a tarp.

The outlets also reported a search at the Swampscott apartment complex where Brian Walshes mother lives resulted in the removal of a dumpster in the complex. The dumpster was involved in the search, the outlets stated, and had been taped off as a crime scene.

A release from the Norfolk County District Attorneys Office stated Massachusetts State Police and detectives from Cohasset Police conducted a search north of Boston on Monday, Jan. 9, which resulted in a number of items being collected, stated Morrissey. The items found were to be processed and tested to see if they were of evidentiary value to the investigation, the district attorney continued, but no other information on the items collected had been shared.
